Karen’s experience with nutrition began at an early age. As an infant she was diagnosed as a Type 1 diabetic, providing a need for her to learn about various aspects of nutrition. Her education is broad with a BA in Psychology, MS Clinical Nutrition degree, Certified Health Coach, and Certified Diabetes Educator. Upon completion of her MS Nutrition degree she started a clinical nutrition practice focused on guiding diabetic patients. Following this she completed a year long internship within an Endocrinology practice to enable her to sit for CDE (Certified Diabetes Educator) exam. Currently, she counsels patients on insulin pump therapy, meal planning, and remission of their Type 2 diabetes.
If you were to ask her what her favorite form of exercise is, it would be a heavy watt spin class, or intense weight training. When weather permits, you may see her on the rail trail getting in some miles. Her coaching style is; “one bad decision today does not define your overall results.” She is married with two young children and loves apple picking within Dutchess County.
